Meanwhile in 1933, Harry Ferguson and David Brown founded the Ferguson-Brown Company, which specializes in agricultural machinery. The company made threshing machines, reapers, and safety bicycles. Harris, Son and Company to form Massey-Harris Limited, which became the biggest agricultural manufacturer in the British Empire. In 1879, the company moved to Toronto, Canada and soon became one of the city’s leading employers. Upon Massey’s death in 1856, his son, Hart Massey, became the sole owner who then changed the enterprise’s name to Massey Manufacturing Co. The company built some of the world’s first threshers, originally by assembling parts purchased in the US before eventually designing and making its own equipment. Massey Ferguson’s history began in 1847, when Daniel Massey founded the Newcastle Foundry and Machine Manufactory in what is now Newcastle, Ontario in Canada.
